Halal restaurants and markets in Kyoto & Osaka(Google map display)

Kyoto is the best city for those who want to see the real Japan during their trip to Japan. As Japan's former capital, Kyoto is a city with quiet charm where traditional culture and beautiful scenery are still alive.

With its diverse food and as a city that has preserved traditional Japan, Kyoto, which was Japan's capital for over 1,000 years, is filled with shrines, temples, gardens, and tatami houses. Also, unlike Tokyo or Osaka, one can say that its serene atmosphere and cultural depth are impressive, rather than being a modernized city.

While Japan has various foods, the history of halal food and facilities that have emerged recently for Muslim travelers who observe Islamic law is not long.

Of course, restaurants and facilities for Muslims existed on a very small scale before this. But there still seems to be a long way to go.

Don't be too disappointed though. Kyoto has a considerable number of halal restaurants and facilities. Especially, there are also menus for Muslim travelers who are interested in Japanese food

Kyoto operates Muslim-friendly facilities that are more accommodating than cities in other countries, including halal ramen restaurants, halal wagyu yakiniku restaurants, and halal restaurants with prayer rooms.

Muslim travelers, are you ready to enjoy halal food with Japanese characteristics now? I will attach a map link of Japanese-style halal restaurants and halal marts for you.

Japan is a country that possesses the essence of diverse cultures with their unique characteristics, has convenient transportation, and ranks very well in terms of public safety.

As one of Asia's representative tourist destinations, we can see the efforts made to attract tourists over a long period.

Friendly citizens, convenient transportation, and safety. Although Japan has relatively expensive transportation costs and high living expenses among Asian countries, tens of millions of cumulative visitors travel to Japan every year.

Since tourism and living costs are cheaper compared to Western European countries, there's no need to be too concerned.

What surprised me was that while halal restaurants exist in countries like Thailand, Korea, and Vietnam, most of them featured halal food from typical Muslim countries rather than halal versions of local cuisine.

Japan, however, adapted its own cuisine to halal standards, allowing visitors to taste exotic halal food, which deserves a very positive evaluation.

However, as Japan tends to have less effective heating facilities compared to other countries, travelers planning an economical trip are recommended to visit in spring and autumn rather than winter.

Especially, the cherry blossoms that can be seen in Japan during spring are truly fantastic.

Even among northeast asia countries with low Muslim populations, Japan excels as a tourist destination.

However, always be cautious about safety when traveling, and it's good to learn some basic Japanese conversation.

Also, the import of meat is restricted when entering Japan.  This includes processed meat products as well, and there is a possibility of being denied entry if you do not follow the guidance of customs officials after bringing such items, with confirmed cases of this occurring.

For an economical 4 night, 5 day trip to Kyoto, the travel cost is conservatively estimated at about $800-1000. Wagyu dishes at halal restaurants are expected to cost around $80-100, while halal ramen is more affordable.

Accommodation costs are calculated at about $50-70 per night, with more economical options being even cheaper (about $30-50).

There are accommodations under $20, but these are not recommended.  They tend to have limited space and insufficient facilities.

Especially, Japanese housing is generally smaller compared to other Asian countries. As both Kyoto and Osaka have many halal restaurant facilities,

it is recommended to visit Osaka after your trip to Kyoto
