Information on Studying and living in Iran (2024)
Studying in Iran... it might seem like an unpopular topic, but I have visited a university in Isfahan during my stay there, and I heard rumors that there were international students studying there😃
Despite the severed international diplomatic relations, Iran is definitely a country worth staying in.
The beautiful natural environment and good security conditions are one of the great advantages for travelers as well as for expatriates or students staying there.
There aren't many countries with very affordable cost of living and good security levels. Thailand would be one of those countries that I know of.
In Iran, I stayed for 3 months with $3,000 and traveled to many regions from Tehran to Bandar Abbas.
While staying in Isfahan for a month, I spent about $600 including accommodation and food.
If I had signed a monthly rental contract and cooked for myself, it probably would have been even cheaper.
During the day, I usually went to restaurants to order simple meals, and occasionally ordered kebabs, fried chicken, and pasta through delivery apps.
At restaurants, I could get economical and decent food for about $2-3, and when using delivery apps, I paid around $4-5 for a meal.
The accommodation I stayed at cost about $8 per day. This would be more expensive when you live in Tehran.
In Tehran, I stayed at a hotel that cost about $12, but the facilities were not as good as in Isfahan.
On the other hand, in Mazandaran, a $15 hotel had good facilities that were nice to stay in.
This is just hotel information, and monthly rent would be cheaper than this.
According to what I asked my friend, for a decent quality economical accommodation, you can stay on a long-term lease for about $200-300 per month.
Even though Iran gives off the impression of being a somewhat closed country like North Korea, it's far superior to North Korea.
Except for some closed-minded people, the people are modern and friendly. They also have glamorous idol singers, Persian hip-hop music, and free communication is possible.

One interesting fact is that religious studies departments at some universities in Iran are free for international students as well.😮
An affordable medical school would be very attractive to international students who want to become doctors. In fact, I have seen foreigners admitted to medical schools in Moldova and Romania, and they had various nationalities including Chinese, African, and Indian.
Unfortunately, countries in Europe, the United States, etc. do not recognize medical licenses obtained in Iran, and the salary of doctors in Iran seems to be a bit low...
but it might not be a bad choice for students who want to join medical or pharmaceutical companies in the future. However, of course, learning Persian would be necessary.😏
