Turkiye Through a Traveler's Eyes(2024)

Turkiye was somewhat different from what I had researched online.

Compared to the information I had gathered in 2022 and 2023, prices were somewhat higher.

First, please understand that taxi fares can vary depending on traffic conditions and various circumstances.

I paid approximately $30-$55 to travel from Ankara and Istanbul airports to the city centers. Ankara was more affordable, while in Istanbul, due to the Flix bus arriving 4 hours later than scheduled, I had to pay a taxi driver 50 euros to get to the airport. (I couldn't refuse the taxi driver's offer because I was about to miss my flight.)

Istanbul Airport's bus stop. Since this place operates 24 hours a day, you can catch a bus even if you arrive at dawn. The bus intervals were approximately 20-30 minutes.

The bus fare from Istanbul to Taksim Square has also risen to 200 Turkish Lira.

While it was an acceptable cost, I was a bit surprised as it was a significant increase compared to 2022 and 2023.

The price of Sprite or Coke sold in the airport is around $6-$8.😱😨
And I'd like to mention that's not even for the 1.5L large size.

Of course, this is only inside the airport. If you plan to visit Turkish airports in the future, please bring drinks in advance.

While Turkiye was previously known for its affordable prices to tourists, I feel that Turkiye's tourist-targeted prices have increased by more than 50% since 2022

Despite this, Turkiye remains a beautiful country where East meets West

It's filled with foreign visitors and offers delicious food, along with a beautiful and splendid history and culture.

I stayed not only in Ankara and Malatya but also in a guesthouse in Istanbul for several days.

There, I met many foreigners and spent comfortable times conversing with them day and night.

The desserts I looked forward to and enjoyed most in Turkiye were definitely baklava and kaymak.

They truly were heavenly treats that I could eat every day without getting tired of them.

Small Turkish Coffee. mb it was 1.5-2$

The small cafes operating in every alley and the coffee brought by young servers were truly delicious.

Come to think of it, coffee prices weren't expensive. Despite various factors like inflation and rising prices due to economic difficulties, Turkiye remains a very attractive tourist destination for Koreans, and it's filled with praise from those who have visited.

This is where I stayed. A lot of things happened here. But it was fun.😂

What I appreciated about Turkiye was that I could easily encounter people from various countries, and Istanbul, as a tourist-friendly city, offered excellent convenience for visitors.

Turkiye serves as a starting point for European travel, allowing overland travel to Europe via Flix bus, and airfares are very affordable.

I used Pegasus Airlines and paid about $130 to travel from Turkiye to the Netherlands.

This is the menu. Compared to other restaurants I've visited, it's just average(price).😛

Here's a menu from a restaurant I used. Consider the menu items and exchange rates carefully.

While it's not too expensive, I can't say what prices will be like in 2025 and 2026, 😅
