Dark and Darker Shells and Spines(Dark and Darker Hard crab shell, Sharp Sea Urchine Spine)

 

This is an informational guide on where to find the quest items Hard Crab Shell and Sharp Sea Urchin Spine in Dark and Darker.

The red circles indicate the locations of Sharp Sea Urchins, and the yellow circles mark the locations of Pinchclaw Crabs on the map.

1.Sea Urchins

1)Mermaid Tomb 

There are two sea urchins in front of the shrine altar. In particular, the one farther away from the shrine is partially hidden in the shadows on the ground, making it easy to miss.

2)Spawning Pool

You can find two sea urchins by heading to the area that appears as an empty space on the minimap. However, be aware that the current in this area is very strong.

3)Coral forest

I was able to find one along the outer edge of the minimap, around the 9 o’clock direction.

It’s placed on top of the coral, not on the ocean floor.

3)Trench

You can find three sea urchins in the Trench.

The first one is located in front of the shrine altar, and the other two can be found by going deeper into the area.

At the time I completed this quest, the item was priced at 2,800 gold. It seems the price went up significantly due to players rushing to finish quests for the Arena. It was honestly a brutal price.

If you really dislike this map, I’d recommend just buying the item from the marketplace. The drop rate isn’t very good, after all. It’s probably more efficient to farm gold on another map for an hour, purchase the quest item, and turn it in.

As of March 1, 2026, you can still buy the item and submit it for the quest. I’m not sure how it will work in the next season, though.

2.Hard crab shell

1)Ocean Volcano

This is one of their most well-known spawn locations, but competition is extremely intense early on. Kill the units quickly and get out as fast as you can.

2)Abandoned Ship

I was only able to find one here.

Once you complete this quest, the follow-up requires you to catch these fish by type. It’s a bit annoying as well, but still better than the collection quests.

Overall verdict on this quest: 

just buy the items from the marketplace and turn them in, or gather (or purchase) them early when competition is low.

By the time this quest unlocks, prices usually skyrocket due to players preparing for Arena epic-grade gear crafting. If you prepare in advance, you can save at least 10,000 gold or avoid spending 2–3 extra hours farming.
